10 February 2020 – Jalon Almond Blossom

Clear, sunny and warm, ideal conditions to see the blossom
The forecast was a high of 27c, but actually 9c when we started
It was nice to welcome Rosemary on the walk, her first for many months
The blossom was sparkling in the bright sunshine
It had warmed up by the time we reached Alcalali, and our banana stop
It was much warmer than last Thursday walk
And everyone would have been happy to spend much more time there than we did
Rosemary and David left us at Alcalali to collect their car from Jalon
The green leaves amongst the blossom made it clear we picked the right week
I suspect that by next week it will have passed its peak
This is my favourite spot to photo both the blossom and Parcent
Because of the temperature our pace was slower than last Thursday
And we choose the shade for our picnic lunch
David and Rosemary joined us again for lunch

The sunshine made some more frisky than others
I thought that we might have to do an extension on the way back
But we had a longer water stop at Alcalali ermita instead
In fact both the distance and the time taken were similar to Thursday
The route was different, and the total ascent slightly less
Another excellent walk in great company

Stats
Time taken 5 hours
Distance14 km
Total ascent 259 metres
