15 June 2020 – Parcent to Murla (New)

Our recce today was to try to find an alternative route from Parcent to Murla
We used to walk to Murla using this route when we first moved to Parcent, back in 2006
However it was badly damaged in the Gota Fria in 2007 and we have not used it since then
We tried to find it last year to use on our Almond Blossom walk, but could not do so
I found two possible tracks on my satnav, but both were field tracks and there was a gap between them and the track we usually use
We couldn’t find the most promising of the two on the outward journey, because it was completely overgrown.
We gave up and walked to Murla for a break in the shade by the church
On the return journey we tried the second one, and followed it all the way back to Parcent
Stats
Time taken – 2.5 hours
Distance – 7 km

9 June 2020 – Jalon Circuit (New)

This was our third recce for a possible summer walk.
It was also our first one which involved any climbing
It started with a steep climb up the Stations of the Cross from Jalon
We were soon aware how unfit we had become after three months lockdown
This is part of a walk we have done many times, but always from Parcent to Jalon.
We had not realised how much climbing is involved, particularly in the first hour
It was lovely walking through the woods, and we found a great picnic spot
But it may be too much for a summer walk, when the temperatures can be 30c

Stats
Time taken – 3 hours
Distance – 9km
Total Ascent – 180 metres

4 June 2020 – Parcent to Alcalali (New)

Our second recce this week was again from Parcent to Alcalali, but a completely different route
A lot of our summer walks will be in and around the valley, because they need to be as flat as possible.   And I would prefer that we do not have to drive too far to start them.
This one followed the route towards Jalon
Then across the river to the Alcalali mirador.   This will feature in a couple of our walks, because it is the best location for a water/banana stop
We then used a new route to Parcent, one which we have not used with the group before
It is a very difficult one to follow, but fortunately I had it recorded on my satnav
Despite this I found it difficult to find, mainly because the tracks were so overgrown

Spain is working again, we had to detour off the path because of a work party
And a bonus was this lady doing her wash at the Parcent font.

Time taken – 3 hours
Distance – 9 km
