Denia to Javea
Windmills – 9 April 2018
Thursday 9 April
The improvement in infections
and deaths in Spain continues to improve.
The Spanish government met
today to extend the current restrictions to 24 April. But they also discussed what might happen
next. One option was to relax the
current house arrest and allow for some daily exercise outside the house. It sounds very similar to what is in place in
the UK at present, and which many there are complaining about. It says a lot for our state of mind that an
hour a day of exercise outside the house with your partner is a really big
deal.
The other big news today is
that Parcent farmacia have received a stock of face masks. We have been trying to get some since before
the lockdown, but none were available.
A friend rang after lunch to confirm that she had gone there to get some
medicine and saw them on sale for 3.50 euro.
We had to wait until 5pm for
them to open after their siesta. When we rang the farmacia they
were reluctant to reserve two for us (one each), but agreed as we are regular
customers there. They are closed
tomorrow, which if Good Friday. But one
of us will collect them on Saturday morning.
We are unlikely to have an
opportunity to use them soon, as we are not allowed to leave the house. But it would be good to have them available
in case either of us developed any signs of the virus. And, of course, for Jan when she next visits
Masymas in Jalon to shop.
Lliber to Senija – 4 November 2019
Friday 10 April
Four weeks ago today Jan and I
paid our last visit to Calpe for our weekly shop and “people fix”. It has long been our one regular visit out
of the valley, and something we always look forward to and enjoy. Apart from shopping, we always walk along the
promenade to the town and visit one of our favourite café for coffee and bacon
boccie. Happy days!
Today has been a particularly
uneventful day. Perhaps because now
that it is sunny and warm we spend quite a bit of time on the naya. Or perhaps because it is Good Friday – not
that today has been any different from any other. Or perhaps because we have settled into a
regular daily routine, so one day seems much like another.
We rise later than
pre-lockdown days. Nothing to get up
early for anymore.
After breakfast we do our
first exercise session. This involves 10
minutes stretching exercise and another 10 minutes power walking up the drive
and around the empty house opposite. We
do this three times a day, so we have one hour’s exercise spread throughout the
day.
After lunch we usually have an
hour on the wargames table, followed by one of the exercise sessions. At 4pm each day we always watch a live
podcast on Facebook called “Corona Virus in Spain”. It is a daily update in English of the stats
and official announcements. All are
checked before being included in the podcast, so it is as reliable as anything
else we have found. If you are
interested in following the course of the emergency in Spain I would strongly
recommend it.
