5 March 2020 – Orba Castle

Twelve happy souls for today’s walk
We cancelled Monday’s walk due to heavy winds
So everyone was even more keen to get out for a little exercise than normal
We had two new faces today, Robin and Sandra from Orba

They are friends of John Mcclelland from CBMW days
It was also nice to see Raymond again
He is a friend of Mike and Jo, and last walked with us about a year ago
Most of the group had done this walk before, though not recently
We did it last May, but it seems longer than that
We climbed up from left to right
A steep climb, but lovely views
And we arrived at the top just before 1300, our scheduled lunch time
Pleasantly warm and lovely views
And lots of space to find a quiet spot
We came down the direct route
This involves a steep and slippery section at the start
Followed by an overgrown and difficult to follow route
But we managed ok and reached the bottom without any drama
On the return journey we spotted another group, and we were determined to get to the bar before they did
We need not have bothered, they must have used a different bar.
    Stats
Time taken – 6 hours
   Distance – 13 km
Total Ascent – 395 metres
