We had to cancel our planned Javea walk today due to
storm damage earlier in the week.
We had already cancelled our Monday Ramblers walk this
week due to storm Gloria.
With dry weather forecast we were determined to do
something to get out of the house
As often happens when we cancel a walk, about half of the
group declined to do the alternative walk
However it was really nice to have a smaller group, and
not to have to worry about following a route
We were not sure what route we would take, as
the river was very high due to the storm
Even the tarmac road to Alcalali had running water in low
lying sections
However we managed it without getting wet feet
We were pleasantly surprised when Susan arrived at the
Alcalali mirador during out banana break
She had come to feed the three feral cats, as she does
every day
Susan has fed the feral cats in Parcent for many years
Last year on this same walk she found a stray which was
in poor condition having obviously lost a fight or two
That was one of the cats she fed today, now looking fit
and healthy
We had our picnic lunch at the font in Parcent
It’s a nice sheltered spot and was a sun trap today
When the sun was not shinning it was cold enough to keep
up a good pace
So we cut at least half an hour off our regular time for
this walk
We were back in the bar just after 2pm, having
enjoyed a very pleasant walk
Stats
Time taken 4 hours
Distance13 km
Total ascent 185
